Accessibility statement
This statement covers phoenixbus.co.uk, including the feeder booking demonstration at /book, which carries the same accessibility options.
Using this site
We want as many people as possible to be able to read this site. You should be able to:
- open the Accessibility options panel (the round button at the bottom left of every page) to change the text size, turn on bigger line spacing, a plainer font, highlighted links, high contrast, greyscale, hidden images, paused animation, a bigger focus outline, left-aligned text, a reading mask, and a list of the page's headings to jump between;
- switch between light and dark with the round button beside it. Until you press it, the site follows your device's own light or dark setting;
- zoom in to 200% with your browser's own controls without text spilling off the screen;
- reach every page and link with a keyboard alone;
- read the pages with a screen reader, with headings in order and timetables marked up as proper tables.
Your choices are saved in your own browser, in its local storage for this site, and nothing about them leaves it: no cookie is set and nothing is sent to us. The panel is part of the site, not a third-party overlay, and it does not change what a screen reader hears.
AbilityNet's My Computer My Way has advice on making any device easier to use.
How accessible this site is
We believe this site is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. We say "partially" deliberately: it has not been independently audited, and we would rather say so than claim a standard nobody else has checked.
Non-accessible content
- Route maps. The maps are pictures, so the stop names on them cannot be read by a screen reader or enlarged cleanly. Every stop and time on a map is also written out in the timetables and stop lists on the same site.
- Colour contrast, measured on 29 September 2026. Body text is 16.1:1 in light mode and 15.7:1 in dark. The lightest text, the grey captions, is 8.3:1 or better in both. The orange labels are 5.1:1 in light mode and 8.9:1 in dark. The high-contrast option in the panel replaces every colour regardless.
If you find something we missed, tell us which page.
How we tested
This site loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers, so nothing can be added to a page by another company without us knowing. We have not yet tested it with assistive technology users; that is the main gap in this statement.
Feedback and contact
